Classification of Wine

 There are many kinds of wines with different styles, but their main production processes and main components are roughly the same. Wines can be divided into several categories according to different methods.

I. Classification by color
1. Red wine is fermented with the skin of grapes with white or red skin and flesh. The liquor contains colored substances in the skin or flesh, making it a wine with red tone. The color of this kind of wine is generally deep ruby red, ruby red, purple red, deep red, brown red, etc.
2. White wines are made from grapes with white or red skin and white meat by peeling and fermentation. The main colors of these wines are yellow tone, such as approximate colorless, yellowish green, light yellow, straw yellow, golden yellow, etc.
3. Peach red wine is fermented from colored grapes by partial leaching of colored substances. Its color is between red wine and white wine, mainly peach, light red, light rose red and so on.
Classification by Pressure Containing Carbon Dioxide
1. Quiet wine, also known as quiescent wine or quiescent wine, refers to wine that does not contain carbon dioxide or very little carbon dioxide (the pressure of carbon dioxide is less than 0.05 MPa at 20 degrees Celsius).
2. Carbon dioxide is produced from sparkling wine by closed secondary fermentation, and the pressure of carbon dioxide is greater than or equal to 0.35 MPa at 20 ~C.
3. Aerated sparkling wine, also known as grape sparkling wine, refers to wine artificially added with carbon dioxide, when the pressure of carbon dioxide is greater than or equal to 0.35 MPa at 20 ~C.
Classification by Sugar Content
A. For calm wine
1. Dry wines are wines whose sugar content (in terms of glucose) is less than or equal to 4.0g/L. Because of the different colors, it can be divided into dry red wine, dry white wine and dry peach red wine.
2. Semi-dry wine and semi-dry wine are wines with sugar content of 4.1-12.0g/L. Because of the different colors, it can be divided into semi-dry red wine, semi-dry white wine and semi-dry pink wine.
3. Semi-sweet wine and semi-sweet wine are wines with sugar content of 12.1-50.0g/L. Because of the different colors, it can be divided into semi-sweet red wine, semi-sweet white wine and semi-sweet peach red wine.
4. Sweet wines are wines with sugar content greater than or equal to 50.1g/L. Because of the different colors, it can be divided into sweet red wine, sweet white wine and sweet peach red wine.
B. For sparkling wine
1. The sugar content of natural sparkling wine is less than or equal to 12.0g/L sparkling wine.
2. Free-dry sparkling wine with sugar content of 12.1-20.0g/L.
3. Dry sparkling wine contains 20.1-35.0 g/L of sugar.
4. Semi-dry sparkling wine contains 35.1-50.0g/L of sugar.
5. Sweet sparkling wine with sugar content greater than or equal to 50.1g/L.
